Terms of Service

Version 2026-10-05. These terms govern your use of PaperLM, an invite-only tool for reading and reviewing research papers, operated by Cheshire Cat Ltd, a company registered in the United Kingdom. By creating an account you accept them and the Privacy Policy.

Your account

  • PaperLM is invite-only. An invite code places you on a plan; we may change plans, features and limits during the preview.
  • Keep your sign-in secure. You are responsible for what happens under your account.
  • You must be at least 18. Google requires this of everyone who uses the Gemini API.

Your Gemini API key and its costs

  • On the GDE preview plan, PaperLM runs all model work on your own Google Gemini API key. Some other plans include credits: work you start on them without a key of your own runs on our key and uses those credits. Deep Research, on the plans that include it, always runs on your own key.
  • Use a key from a Google Cloud project with billing enabled (Google's paid tier). Google's Gemini API terms allow only the paid tier for people in the European Economic Area, Switzerland and the United Kingdom, and on the free tier Google may use what you send to improve its products. Your use of the key through PaperLM is subject to those terms.
  • Usage on your own key — including Google Search grounding — is billed by Google to your Google account, under Google's terms. We do not charge you for it and cannot refund it.
  • Usage limits apply to protect the service, for example on how many analyses run at once and how many runs you start per day; the app tells you when one stops you.
  • How we store and use your key is described on Your Gemini API key. Remove it at any time in Settings.

Your content

  • You keep the rights to what you submit and to what is generated for you. You give us permission to store and process it, and to send it to Google's Gemini API, only to provide the service to you.
  • Submit only papers and material you are allowed to use.
  • Don't use PaperLM to break the law, infringe others' rights, attack or overload the service, or get around its limits.

Generated output

Reviews, critiques, roasts, summaries and other results are produced by AI models. They can be wrong, incomplete or unfair to the work they describe. Check anything that matters against the paper itself before you rely on or publish it. What you publish — a roast of someone's paper included — is your responsibility.

Availability and changes

PaperLM is a preview, provided "as is", without warranties, as far as the law allows; nothing here limits rights you have as a consumer that cannot be limited. It may change, be interrupted or end. When these terms change we update their version above.

Ending

You can delete your account at any time in Settings (see the Privacy Policy for what happens to your data). We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms.
